For a long time, I've wanted to achieve popup notifications in Kodi sent from OSA.
Well, I've finally wrote a plugin that can do this.
There is more to do, but it is generally working now.
There are 2 attached files, the plugin, and a standalone app to quickly test that your Kodi is correctly setup.
Here's an example OSA script to popup a message once your KODI MEDIA PLAYER object is configured.
mediaplayer.SET PROPERTY.Heading = OSA
mediaplayer.SET PROPERTY.Message = Example message from OSA
Vaughn, if this is popular, can it be added as a plugin on the website?
Maybe this should be built into the XBMC plugin?
This is my first attempt writing anything in c# so its likely not as slick as it could be, but I will update it soon.
Please leave feedback. I'm interested to know if this is useful to anyone.
I've never got the xbmc plugin to work myself.
Not sure why.

I thought I'd also share that you can re position Kodi's Popup messages by modifying this file on your Kodi box:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Kodi\addons\skin.estuary\DialogNotification.xml
C:\Program Files (x86)\Kodi\addons\skin.estuary\xml\DialogNotification.xml
This will vary depending on the platform you are running and the skin your using. These are defaults for Windows, and the default skin.
The numbers you need to modify are near to the top of the file.
Change the values "top" and "right" to your preference.
My preference is to 0 on both settings which moves the popup so its tight into the top right of the screen.
The code below shows the defaults top 85 and right 0
Code: Select all
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <window> <zorder>3</zorder> <controls> <control type="group"> <depth>DepthMax</depth> <top>85</top> <right>0</right> <width>640</width> <include>OpenClose_Right</include>
I would suggest you backup this file before changing any settings so you can restore Kodi should things go wrong.
