That is how I had it.
I backed up a little, deleted the cm17 object, put the comport back to com3.
Shut osa down. Reinstalled cm17 pluging, downloaded cm17 drivers from a different source and installed. Rebooted, recreated the cm17 object and finally it works.

The plugin talks directly to the the COM port. It does not need any drivers unless you are talking about using a USB to Serial adapter that needs drivers.

Also, after installing a new plugin all you have to do is stop the OSA service and then restart and it will create the plugin object for you. This is usually better than manually creating the plugin object.
