Try starting the Jabber plugin. It is another plugin that has a dependant DLL.

Yep, I was asked about the 64-bit assemblies and DID installed them when asked.

The Jabber plugin was already installed... and you're right, it has a similar symptom... when I go to the OSA manager and try to enable it, it says "Starting..."
but never "Started"... same thing when I try to stop it... it says "Stopping, but never "Stopped" (until I close and reopen the OSA Manager. Here's what the log shows when I try to enable the Jabber plugin...

Upon more careful inspection, I've noticed that in the OSA manager, none of the plugins say "Started"... only "Starting"... even when I haven't enabled either Jabber or ZWave plugins... weird... Jabber error is still valid tho... Wonder if it's related to some damn security "feature" or some such UAC-type "feature"...?

Good possibility.

Even on an OSA system that is working I have seen the plugin states not going to "Running". Sometimes I have had to completely close OSA Manager and then re-start it to get the proper plugin state.

Do your plugins like 'Email" and "Network Monitor" which do you require a dependent DLL start without errors?

Yes I've got the same error as MindMusic on that (see OSEA Service Log further down)

Also same with me.

I'm too new to OSA to be able to verify correct function of those, but the parts of OSAE Service log relating to them look ok?:

Code: Select all

12/21/2013 07:15:42.099 PM - Plugin name: Email

12/21/2013 07:15:46.666 PM - ---------------------------------------
Looking at the Email Log I'm less certain whether it's working?:

Code: Select all

12/21/2013 07:15:42.161 PM - Starting...
The Network Manager Log looks more encouraging. It keeps repeating these lines:

Code: Select all

12/21/2013 07:15:44.296 PM - Running Interface!
12/21/2013 07:15:46.147 PM - # NETWORK DEVICE: 0
12/21/2013 07:15:46.199 PM - # COMPUTERS: 1
12/21/2013 07:15:46.202 PM - Pinging: 192.168.1.123
12/21/2013 07:15:51.092 PM - Off-Line
Now I've been looking closer at the logs I'm wondering if this line from the Plugin Loader Log might provide a clue?:

Code: Select all

12/21/2013 07:15:41.740 PM - Found a not .NET assembly:C:\Program Files\OSA\\Plugins\ZWave\OpenZWaveDotNet.dll
The total section of that log which relates to the Zwave Plugin (including the above line) is:

Code: Select all

12/21/2013 07:15:41.731 PM - DLL Found while loading Plugins:C:\Program Files\OSA\\Plugins\ZWave\OpenZWaveDotNet.dll
12/21/2013 07:15:41.740 PM - Found a not .NET assembly:C:\Program Files\OSA\\Plugins\ZWave\OpenZWaveDotNet.dll
12/21/2013 07:15:41.743 PM - DLL Found while loading Plugins:C:\Program Files\OSA\\Plugins\ZWave\OSAE.Zwave.dll
12/21/2013 07:15:41.750 PM - Exposed Type: OSAE.Zwave.Zwave
Relevant? I'm wondering if we're missing some "Exposed Type: OpenZWaveDotNet.xxxxxxxxx" lines here?

Yes, OpenZwaveDotNet.dll is the third part DLL that needs to get loaded.

The "Found a not .NET assembly" is a typo it should read "Could not find .NET assembly"

The problem looks to be the double backslash "\\Plugins". Not sure why this problem just started happening.

Have you checked that all the latest Windows updates are installed? Especially those for .NET.

Does the registry key value at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OSAE\DBSETTINGS\INSTALLDIR have a backslash on the end?

Windows 7 is up-todate (at least to a couple of days ago).
When I first tried to install MySql I was prompted to install "Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile (Web Installer)", which I did from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download ... x?id=17113. I see however that a version 4.5 is also available...

Yes, it's value is "C:\Program Files\OSA\"

I don't suppose the problem would be caused by my having moved ZWave_0.5.4.osapp from the downloads folder to C:\Program Files\OSA\Plugins before I ran it?

Try stopping the OSA service then shutting down OSA Manager. Remove the "\" on the end of the registry value and then starting OSA again.

Well that's got rid of the double "\" in the Plugin Loader Log:

Code: Select all

12/21/2013 10:56:09.843 PM - DLL Found while loading Plugins:C:\Program Files\OSA\Plugins\ZWave\OpenZWaveDotNet.dll
12/21/2013 10:56:09.852 PM - Found a not .NET assembly:C:\Program Files\OSA\Plugins\ZWave\OpenZWaveDotNet.dll
12/21/2013 10:56:09.855 PM - DLL Found while loading Plugins:C:\Program Files\OSA\Plugins\ZWave\OSAE.Zwave.dll
12/21/2013 10:56:09.864 PM - Exposed Type: OSAE.Zwave.Zwave
Wierdly it doesn't seem to have made any difference (good or bad) to the output from the OSAE Service Log though. Still showing the same error (have tried a couple of start/stops)

I should have mentioned before: there's an error showing in the Manager Log too. The following is written to the log twice a minute:

Code: Select all

 - Error messaging host: The communication object, System.ServiceModel.Channels.ServiceChannel, cannot be used for communication because it is in the Faulted state.

Any hints at the problem in your Windows event logs?
