Can't talk to Zwave Stick and Device are not showing up!!

#1 Post by daudet » Thu Jan 23, 2014 8:47 pm

Hello Everyone,

I have the Aeon Z-Stick 2 on com3
and i have 2 device that are linked to my stick, Radio thermostat and GE Lamp plug module. 45603

In my Objects i see SYSTEM Zwave and SYSTEM Radio Thermostat but not my GE Lamp Module.

Do i have to load a specific plugins for GE Lamp? is so which one?

In objects Thermostat show always stopped, and in Plugins show stopped even it the check mark is on.

My logs look like this.

Manager's log
I am getting this every 30 min non stop.

Well one more step forward.
After fooling around all evening yesterday, I pin point my issue with the Z Stick.

The value I had for port was com3. The log error was showing can't talk to ZWave on Comcom3!!

So I deleted all Zwave stuff from object and Zwave directory.

Re installed the Zwave plugins and then entered only the # 3 for the port.

Bingo ZWave Stick came to life and read my GE module.

Mannualy via object I was able to turn non or off.

Next I created my main floor and added a light bulb On and Off.

Back to webpage I see my screen and I can toggle my lamp.

Next is my thermostat. Seem to work only one way.

If I press any button like fan on or mode on /off , I can see the reaction on the logs but that's it.

Trying to send command thru objects the thermostat does not react.

Any one has an idea?

Daniel...

Even though it was a bad value, a request could be opened to enrich the use of that parameter in the plugin. Just by adding an IsNumeric(strPort.value) check, we could have provided better feedback during startup. Or something like strPort.value.Replace("com","")...

So I wouldn't consider it a bug, but definitley one of the little improvements that may help many new users avoid repeating the issue...
